This fall we have done a variety of activities together as we have had a bounty of resources for nature play and exploration!
In science we have dissected apples, learned about the life cycle of pumpkins, and watched chemical reactions as things exploded with food coloring :).
As the leaves began to change, we began to learn about color theory in art. We also studied Pablo Picasso and Paul Klee and made copies samples of their work (with our own special twists).
In health we have had various physical challenges (for some reason these kids love to run and do pushups, haha), studied about various food groups (including tastings), and learned about the sugars that secretly lie in various foods.
In geography/geology, we have learned about each of the continents and their changing of seasons and the various wildlife habitants due to their climate. We have also learned about maps and keys, and gone on scavenger hunts in the library to learn N,S,E,W. We made layers with sand art to represent the geological layers of the earths and have done LOTS of role playing.
It has been fun to see each participant come our of their shell a little more and interact with the group and the variety of materials that parents have brought it! We have meet outside to play when the weather is nice and stayed inside and made wreaths from the colorful leaves when it is wet and rainy. Thank you to all the families that made this fall session such a fun time to learn and be together!
